I have the honour to refer to my letter of 30 October 1989 requesting you to deposit the United Kingdom's Instrument of Ratification of the Hague Convention on the Law applicable to Trusts with the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Governor of Hong Kong has now informed Her Majesty's Government that Hong Kong wishes to have the Convention extended to its territory.

I therefore enclose a draft Note indicating that the Convention should be extended to Hong Kong, which, if you see no objection, I should be grateful if you would transmit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Governor has asked to be informed before the Note is sent.

Would you please therefore let him know fourteen days in advance of the date on which you intend to send the Note.
