Qiao Zonghuai and Ji Shaoxiang told me at the Governor's dinner for Xu on 30 January that they did not expect
any changes in NCNA at the senior levels for at least 6 months
after Zhou Nan arrived. But they did not seem overly confident
about the thereafter.
2.
Ji Shaoxiang said that Zhou Nan had been considered as
a replacement for Ji Pengfei in the State Council HKMAO before
it was decided that he would come to Hong Kong. He confirmed
that Ji and Li Hou would retire at the NPC and that Lu Ping
would stay on.
He neither confirmed nor denied the stories
that Wu Xueqian might replace Ji.
