Thank you for your letter of 18 October to the Foreign Secretary seeking clarification of the statement in Mr Maude's recent letter to Mrs Edwina Currie about the comparative position of Hong Kong HMOCS pensioners. We have no record of having received your earlier letter on this subject to

Mr Maude, which we note was addressed to him in the House of Commons.

I enclose a copy of a recent letter from Lord Caithness on this subject which I think covers the points raised in your letter.
