Information Requested
Of course
there may be different ways of resolving the situation described above, and it may be that more time is needed to sort them out. However, the outcome has a material bearing on my choice of pension option, not least because the level of compensation under the limited compensation scheme (which many believe will be the model for general
a
scheme) varies according to the pension scheme the officer has opted for.
I therefore need to know now
(a) whether there will be a general compensation scheme for HMOCS officers similar to other territories;
(b)
(c)
if so, when it will be introduced and what the terms will be;
that the general understanding that an HMOCS officer may not serve the HKSARG and remain a member of HMOCS is confirmed.
If HMG is not able to answer these questions at this time, an alternative would be for the deadline set by HKG for exercising the pension option to be extended. This should be set so as
as to provide a sufficient interval after the information becomes available for mature reflection before a choice has to be made.
I would be grateful for your clarification on these points.
Yours faithfully,
