present arrangements work to the disadvantage of the Hong Kong pensioner: in the long term it is clear that the Hong Kong/US dollar link makes for stability and certainty.
I hope all this will be of some reassurance to Mr Goode and his son. We are certainly not insensitive to their concerns and will continue to keep all these matters under careful review, in consultation with the Hong Kong Government.
