(£) I have dealt with most of the questions in (f) under (e) above. I do not think it is appropriate to embark on hypothetical discussions about what might or might not happen if the Chinese authorities were to contravene the terms of the Joint Declaration. As I have said earlier above, any action would have to be for the government of the day to decide.
