a vacancy form for the new post of Director

Intellectual Property which is expected to be created with effect from 1 June 1990;

а report of the Recruitment Selection Board (chaired by the Secretary for Trade and Industry with the Secretary for the Civil Service and the Registrar General as members and the Chairman of Public Service Commission as an observer); and

a memo of 14 March 1990 to the Secretary, Public Service Commission recommending that Ms Alice Tai, Administrative Officer Staff Grade B, be appointed as Director of Intellectual Property with effect from 1 June 1990 on trial for one year;

Finance Committee of the Legislative Council will very soon be requested to approve the creation of a permanent post of Director of Intellectual Property to head a new Intellectual Property Department which will be established on 1 June 1990

1 June 1990 to provide for the registration of patents and trade marks for goods. In anticipation Of the creation of the new post, an in-service recruitment exercise was conducted to find a suitable serving officer for appointment to the post. It is planned to second the selected officer to the Registrar General's Department on 1 April 1990 mainly to finalise the setting up of the new Intellectual Property
