Dear Sir,

I as directed to offer you appointment as Inspector of Police in the Royal Hong Kong Falice Force on overseas conditions of service

→ and on the terms set out in this letter and in the attached "Memorandus

on Conditions of Service for Overseas Officers" (G.F. 341, September 1977 version).

The appointment may be 1-

(a) on agreement for 3 years; or

(b) on probation for 3 years in the first instance with # view to confirmation to the permanent and pensionable establishment.

If you opt for appointment on agreement terms, you will be eligible for a gratuity in accordance with paragraph 17 of the Memorandum (G.F. 341).

If you opt for appointment on probation, you will not be eligible for a gratuity but will be eligible for confirmation to the permanent and pensionable establishment at the end of the probationary period provided your conduct and service have been satisfactory and you have acquired all the qualifications necessary for confirmation. You will be eligible for retiring benefits in accordance with paragraph 21 of the Memorandum (G.F. 341).

You are required to pass the Standard I Professional Examination prior to passing out from the Police Training School and the Standard II Professional Examination before passage of probation bar or reneval of agreement.

You will note from paragraph 1.4 of the Kestormdup on Conditions of Service that the working weus for an officer is normally 21 days. This condition, however, does not apply to Police Inspectors who are required to work shifts and work on Sundays and Public Holidays as Brected by the Commission of Police.
