Dear Sir,

I am directed to offer you appointment as Inspector of Police in the Royal Hong Kong Police Force on overseas conditions of service and on the terms set out in this letter and in the attached "Memorandum on Conditions of

Service in Hong Kong" (G.F.341(P) subject to the satisfactory

completion of recruitment procedures.

The appointment may be:

(a)

on agreement for three years; or

(b) on probation for three years in the first

instance with a view to confirmation to the permanent and pensionable establishment.

If you opt for appointment on agreement terms, you will be eligible for a gratuity in accordance with paragraph 17 of the Memorandum (G.F.341(P)).

4. If you opt for appointment on probation, you will not be eligible for a gratuity, but will be eligible for confirmation to the permanent and pensionable establishment at the end of the probationary period provided your conduct and service have been satisfactory and you have acquired all the qualifications necessary for confirmation. You will be eligible for retiring benefits in accordance with paragraph 21 of the Memorandum (G.F.341(P)).
