The Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization presents

his compliments to Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for Foreign and

Commonwealth Affairs and has the honour to refer to the Agreement between the

Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the

International Maritime Organization, as amended by the Exchange of Notes dated

20 January 1982.

In this connexion, the Secretary-General wishes to state that he has been

informed by the Hong Kong Government that Hong Kong, an Associate Member of

IMO, has decided to appoint Mr. Derick Arnold Hall, Marine Adviser to the

Hong Kong Government Office, London as the Permanent Representative of

Hong Kong to the International Maritime Organization in succession to

Mr. Peter Chan Yue-yan.

Pursuant to the Procedure for the Accreditation to IMO of Permanent

Representatives and Members of Permanent Missions of Member Governments

approved by the Assembly of the Organization and referred to in paragraph 4 of

Article 13bis of the Headquarters Agreement, the Secretary-General has the

honour hereby to inform the Government of the United Kingdom of the

designation of Mr. Hall as Permanent Representative of Hong Kong to the

International Maritime Organization.
