VISAS FOR HONG KỌNG

-

1. Mr Michael Smart, secretary of the Division of International Affairs at the British Council of Churches - for this purpose a colleague of mine as I serve as FCO member of the board of the Division has asked whether we can do anything to expedite the visas applied for by two East German and two Bulgarian Baptists wishing to visit Hong Kong in August. I attach a copy of his letter with details of the applicants.

2. We all understand the reasons for a possible delay of twelve weeks in processing the visas but, as such a lapse of time could negate the purpose of their visit, I wonder if we can do anything in this instance to speed up the visas' issue. We would, if we did so, store up much credit in heaven thereby.
