Sponsored Visit

Land grant for the future British Consulate-General

(BCG)

Basic Law

If the sponsored visit programme is reactivated within the next few months the next visit would be of mainland Chinese to HK.

To agree with UKG on the terms of land grant for the future BCG.

NPC has been scheduled to promulgate the Basic Law at its next meeting on

4 April.

No sponsored visits have taken place since May 1989. Will be considering when and how to reactivate programme.

HKG and UKG officials are still discussing options and details of the proposed land grant.

The Standing Committee of the NPC decided on 23 February to submit a revised draft Basic Law and designs for SAR flag and emblem for submission to the NPC.
