Security for pensions
Security of pension is of particular concern to many civil servants. There is considerable staff pressure for the establishment of a pension fund and for accrued pension benefits to be paid before 1997.
Various options of pension safeguards are being explored, and their financial and political implications being assessed.
General Compensation Scheme
A UK scheme of compensation for members of Her Majesty Overseas Civil Service on change of sovereignty, in recognition of HMG' special obligations to these officers.
The proposed scheme provides incentive to
encourage officers to
remain in the service after 1997. Details being considered by FCO.
