Hong Kong's dialogue with the
Organization for Economic Co-operation
and
Development (OECD)
Hong Kong attended an informal seminar between the OECD and four Asian economies (namely, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Korea) held in January 1989. Further dialogue between the OECD and some of the Asian economies will continue. The question of inviting these Asian economies to join the OECD might arise as the dialogue progresses. Hong Kong has then to examine the pros and cons of OECD membership seriously.
Further dialogue being worked out in the form of four workshops to be held during February-April 1990 to cover subjects of investment and technology, financial markets, macroeconomic linkage and trade. Hong Kong has agreed to take part in all workshops.
