Thank you for your letter of 31 January, offering to resume the practice of faxing press summaries.

2. The weekly press reporting telegrams are very helpful as the faxes of daily media coverage of the Basic Law which we get from GDB. In addition, I think we can rely on HKG to let us know by immediate telegram of any stories in the media which have operational consequences. In these circumstances I do not think it is necessary to ask you to resume faxing of further reports.
