There is a general interest in items in this category, but items in Category I should normally take precedence.
There is also a need for the rapid reporting of major political developments in some areas not otherwise mentioned, except the USA.
In addition to the monitoring priorities set out in this paper, BBC MS, as part of the agreement with its US counterpart FBIS, has responsibility for certain monitoring which is not a priority for UK customers, in particular coverage of Western Europe. Where overlap of coverage exists, the FBIS requirement for handling material frequently exceeds that of UK.
