At his brief meeting in Hong with the British Council representative (Mr Davey), the latter said that the British Council had sought the approval of the FCO for three new projects connected with Hong Kong, involving among other things science and technology training, and English
The Secretary of State had earlier language training. expressed a particular interest in ELT, being somewhat surprised at the poor English spoken by many of the Hong Kong Chinese he met.
