But it

1 time chance to get in on the ground floor in a priority ala industrially, educationally and geographically. is the political importance in the wider UK/Hong Kong context which needs to be emphasised in the PES bid submission to the Treasury. As I mentioned to you on the 'phone, I think the collaborative/commercial aspects of the endowment also needs to be highlighted.

5.

The ELT proposal for teacher trainees, another clear priority project needs, I think, more clarification both on the timescale and the funding. I have spoken to Mr Ellis in the Council about this. He will clarify with Hong Kong and get back to us quickly.

6.

The Council will still need £0.6 million for increased exchanges of people in the bid for Hong Kong on top of the total for the Research Centre. This is needed to reinforce existing exchange of people programmes and other initiatives in key areas.

7.

I hope RMD would agree that a £5m to £6m line for Hong Kong in each of the next two years in our PES bid for the Council will sit nicely with the £4.2m, £4.3m and £4.4m we are looking for in respect of E Europe.
