Background Note of the Sir S K Tang Donation
Ca 10 March 1986, late Sir S K Tang wrote to the then
Chief
Secretary stating that he proposed to donate a sum
of £1 million from which the accrued interest could be
used for charitable
purposes in the UK at the complete
discretion of Her Majesty's Government (HMG). The letter
has been acknowledged by the Chief Secretary and the FCO
has been informed of the proposed donation.

(EKG) informed FCO that Sir S K Tang did not wish to be
troubled with setting up a new trust and did not want the
