roles of the institutions [paragraph 14 (c) above] in that :-
(a) HKU and CUHK will continue to offer a wide range of subjects, including humanities, sciences, technologies and professional studies (eg medicine and architecture) at both undergraduate and
(b)
postgraduate level;
HKUST, which will operate essentially as the other two Universities, will focus on business, science and technology, supplemented by limited work in
humanities;
(c) HKP and CPHK will
CPHK will offer undergraduate courses which are more vocationally-oriented than those
run by the Universities, with some research work
and postgraduate studies; and
(d)
HKBC and LC will offer undergraduate courses in
humanities with some social sciences, including
education, and in broad scientific studies. In
the case of HKBC, there will be some research work
and postgraduate studies. It is not expected that LC will offer postgraduate studies during the
period 1991-95, since the focus within the College
will be on undergraduate course development.
However, some staff will undoubtedly undertake
research work themselves.
