The 21 person group departed HO CHI MINH CITY, S.VN on 26-3-90 by train. They reached HONG GAI on 28-3-90 via HA NOI, and set sail on the same night. On 31-3-90, they came to BAI LONG WEI () of China and their junk was found no more sea-worthy due to engine problem. They managed to purchase another motorized junk at a cost of 4.2 taels of gold. In addition, they offered 0.45 tael of gold in exchange for 130 litres of fuel, 70 kg of rice and other foodstuff and left on 1-4-90. Having made a brief stop at
QI SHA (企沙 ), they moved on and reahced BEI HAI (
) on 3-4-90. This time, they offered 0.15 tael of gold to buy 130 litres of fuel. They then sailed along the coast of LEI ZHOU BAN DAO ( 半岛 ) and called at ZHEN JIANG (混江 ) on 12-4-90. They resumed their voyage a few hours later and moved eastward. On 17-4-90, they touched SHEN WAN (
) where they
rested over-night. They sailed to MACAO on 18-4-90 and stopped there due to unfavourable weather. During their stay, they met another 2 VN junks (i.e. VRD 56/90 and Group II). The 3 VN junks headed for Hong Kong on 21-4-90.
