The escapees started their journey at HO CHI MINH CITY by train. night's rest at HA NOI was made before they reached HONG GAI by bus. At HONG GAI, they met a VN/M 'CUONG' who agreed to guide them to China side at a charge of 0.1 tael of gold per head. All were led to MONG CAI and directed to cross the border for DONG XING (10) at a place two miles away from the check point. They crossed the border by small boat at a fare of RMB $5.
