This group of 28 left HO CHI MINH on 6-3-90 and arrived at HA NOI after 3 days' train journey. Then they took a bus for HAI NINH where their friend in name of 'TRAM NHAT DONG' ( 東 ) received them. 'DONG' an Ex-China-Vietnamese (ECV) living at FANG CHENG (1X), had promised to lead them to China by land. They were charged 2,000,000 Dongs per head for the land routing. On 10-3-90, they successfully passed the Sino-Vietnamese border via the hill path without going through any official check points. Having rested for one day at DONG XING (東興
), they came to FANG CHENG (3) #X ) by bus for an overnight rest, On the following day, they proceeded to GUANGZHOU (114 ECV called 'THACH' ( J G
) by bus and then called at TAIPING( q ) where they encountered another ). They paid RMB 8,000 per head to 'THACH' who promised to purchase a motorized boat for their onward escape. It was not until the evening of 17-3-90, were they guided to get on board the boat on which Group II (12 persons) had already been placed. Shortly after, this newly combined group of 40 set sail, they encountered PRC officials and were examined. As there was no Chinese resident on board, they were allowed to carry on their journey for Hong Kong. Eventually, they were intercepted by Hong Kong Marine Police in the morning of 18-3-90.

This group of 12 departed HO CHI MINH on 16-2-90 by train. Three days later they came to HA NOI and then to HONG GAI for an overnight rest. Because of bad weather, they had stayed at HA GAI for 4 days before proceeding to HAI NINH On their arrival at HAI NINH, they were approached by a VN/M who agreed to escort them to DONG XING ( 東興 ) of China at a cost of 0.1 tael of gold per head. On the same day, they crossed the Sino-Vietnamese border successfully without passing any official check point. They waited at DONG XING for 4 days until their relative introduced a courier called 'THACH' (J

on 17-3-90 after each of them had paid RMB 1,000 to 'THACH'. Thereafter, they shared the same voyage until their arrival in Hong Kong.
