The trip was organized by a VN/M 'QUANG'. 0.3-0.5 tael of gold was collected from each member. They were informed to gather at HONG GAI, N.VN. They started their journey in the early morning of 29-12-89. They reached MONG GAI in the afternoon. Those with identification papers were allowed to pass the border check point upon payment of $5,000-$20,000 Dong per head. RMB$1 was collected each at the China side. The rest were directed to cross

the borderline by small boat at a price of $20,000 Dong. At DONG XING (東興), they were escorted to 東興華僑旅行服務社

There, they met

group II who was a receptionist. They remained until 4-1-90 when they were guided to ZHU SHAN (4) by 'QUANG' and two other men. There, they were provided with a wooden junk, 300 litres of fuel, 250kg of rice and 40 litres of water after a total payment of 4 taels of gold. They set sail immediately
