This group of 8 had paid 0.2 tael of gold per head to a chinese in name of 'THO' who, a former resident in Vietnam, led them to flee HO CHI MINH, S.VN on 24-11-89. They subsequently arrived at.HAI PHONG by bus via HA HOI on 27-11-89. After an overnight, rest, they went to HAI NINH by ferry. On the same day, they were conveyed by a small wooden bout to reach DONG XING() of China without going through any VN check point. Upon arrival, the courier had paid a toll (amount unknown) to the PRC officials before they were allowed to pass through the check point. However, they received no inspection from the officials. Thereafter, they were accommodated at a house belonged to the courier's friend until 9-12-89. During their stay, they were not allowed to go outside and did not have any knowledge of the place › they lived.
