The exodus was mainly organized by the boatmaster who recruited his relatives and clansmen to join the trip. Each adult had to contribute 0.15 to 0.2 tael of gold so as to purchase junk, foodstuff and other necessities. Originally, this group was composed of 48 persons which fled CHI LINH, HAI HUNG, N. VN. on 4-11-1989. they reached BEI HAI) where they were examined by PRC officials.

The informant, together with his brother and 2 clansmen, fled CHIEM HOA, HA TUYEN, N. VN. in Jan 1988. They went to DONG VAN by waggon and successfully crossed the Sino-Vietnamese border on foot. Few days later, they

On 6-11-1989, they met Group I and were admitted on board their junk after payment of 0.2 tael of gold each to the boatmaster. Thereafter, they shared the same routing with Group I until their arrival in Hong Kong on 10-12-1989.
