1. Mr Maude has seen Mr Guy's submission of 10 January. considers that an oral statement is quite unnecessary and that he should not attend Lord Ennals' and Mr Raison's press conference either.
2.
I understand that a call by Lord Ennals and Mr Raison has been pencilled in the Secretary of State's diary for 3.30pm on 18 January. (Mr Maude may be in Greece that day.) He might possibly try to see them earlier in the week: he will decide on Monday morning after seeing their report.
