Dear Peter,

TAI A CHAU BOAT PEOPLE ACCOMMODATION

Thank you for your letter of 29 May about Tilden Industries' efforts to sell equipment for boat people camps in Hong Kong. I personally have a great deal of sympathy with the proposition that British Government funding should as far as possible be linked to the purchase of British goods.

2.

In practice, however, this may be easier said than done. So what about making gifts of (British) equipment and prefabricated buildings if there is any question of further contributions in the future? Do you think this might be feasible?

Yours Sincerely Alan Panc
