No request has been received from the Hong Kong
Government for military assistance with VBP camp security.
What is current military involvement with VBPS?
The garrison provides limited logistic support to the
Hong Kong Government (eg food and transport).
MOD reaction to any request for military guards?
We would consider any such request. But guarding is
principally a task for the civil authorities, and garrison
involvement would be very much a last resort.
Assistance inputting down camp disturbances?
Again, maintenance of order is principally a task for the
civil authorities. Any request would be considered in the
normal way.
Details of recent escape attempts?
Matter for the FCO.
