The programme of searches at Whitehead and the other centres will continue. Weapons will be removed and those committing offences will either be charged (where have sufficient evidence for a prosecution) or removed to another centre. At the same time we must work together to improve the scope and quality of the services to the VBP
to improve the representational arrangements. This work is, as you know, already well underway and I hope we will be in a position to initiate improvements at Whitehead before the end of the month. But these improvements will only be effective against a background of law and order in the centre.
