Dear Mr Stenton,

Thank you for your letter of 10 May (which I received on 15 May) inviting me to attend your Annual General Meeting on Thursday 31 May; and for your kind invitation to lunch with Lord Grey on that day.

I very much regret to say that I already have commitments on the day in question, which it would be impossible for me to break. However, I understand that Mr David Fish of the Overseas Development Administration is planning to attend on 31 May. He is of course fully qualified to speak on behalf of the Government on all aspects of Hong Kong public service pensions.
