Registing to get our replies to the four letters.
Dear Sir,
On behalf of the JPOA of the Royal Hong Kong Police Force, I wish to state that the standpoint of the Association has remained unchanged since June 1989 when the problems facing the Junior Police Officers were conveyed to Sir Geoffrey Howe, the then British Foreign Secretary. In order to give you a full picture of the feelings and viewpoints of the Association, I have attached the following list of letters for your reference and information :-
(1) Letter to Sir Geoffrey Howe
(2) Letter to Mr Douglas Hurd
(3) Letter to Mr Peter Lloyd
(4) Letter to the Honorable Francis Maude
dated 28 June 1989
dated 11 January 1990
dated 20 March 1990
dated 9 April 1990
I wish to add that with the approach of 1997 and the impending change of sovereignty, the pressure, problems and challenges to the Force members would increase tremendously since they work at the front line in the enforcement of law and security in the society.
C.C.
Commissioner of Police
(Ex-officio President)
Yours faithfully,
(TSUI Wai-chun) Chairman,
Junior Police Officers' Association
Honorable Baroness Dunn, DBE, JP
(Life Honorary President, JPOA)
Miss Maria TAM, CBE, JP
(Honorary Legal Advisor and Honorary President, JPOA)
