LORD CAITHNESS' TRAVEL PLANS

1. The Secretary of State has agreed that Lord Caithness may visit the Philippines and Hong Kong from 24 January -

2 February and New Zealand and Australia from 22 February

9 March, although he has cautioned that if the Gulf flares up it might be necessary to cancel the Philippines/Hong Kong trip at short notice. The way is now clear therefore for Heads of Mission in Manila, Canberra and Wellington to consult their Host Governments. Lord Caithness would be grateful to see draft programmes in due course.
