LORD CAITHNESS' VISIT TO HONG KONG, 15-20 SEPTEMBER 1990

I attach a list of the briefs which will be required for this visit and a copy of the outline programme.

2. I have not of course had an opportunity to discuss the format or coverage of the briefs with the Minister and will not be able to do so until 3 September, but we must assume that he will require detailed background and a fairly full line to take.

I should be grateful if those responsible for drafting the background briefs could also provide a list of objectives and, where appropriate, lines to take for the press brief.

4. We will need to submit the briefs by Friday 7 September. I should be grateful if you could let me have your contributions by c.o.p. on Tuesday 4 September, or earlier in the case of those of you who are going on leave.
