LORD CAITHNESS' VISIT TO HONG KONG: LOOSE ENDS

1.

At the risk of over-burdening an already busy programme,

I suggest that thought might be given to adding two further

elements:

(a) A walkabout. Lord Caithness might like to spend 10-15 minutes simply talking to "the man in the street",

perhaps going on a brief shopping expedition. You will

recall that several of the journalists asked the Minister

last night whether this was provided for in the

programme. I suggest that the visit to Shatin should include such a provision. It need take no longer than

10-15 minutes.

2.

-

(b) Lord Caithness should briefly see the site of the

future Consulate General Colvin House. This could

consume as little as 10-15 minutes, although more time

would be needed if he wished to visit the adjacent Pacific Place development.

I should be grateful to know the Minister's views.
