HONG KONG: REQUEST FOR A CALL BY MR MARTIN LEE

Problem

Mr Martin Lee, a prominent Legislative Councillor in Hong Kong, has asked to call on Lord Caithness, if possible

on the morning of 3 September.

Recommendation

Although the timing is not ideal, I recommend that Lord

Caithness should agree to see Mr Lee on 3 September.

Mr Lee telephoned me yesterday to ask if it would be possible for him to call on Lord Caithness. Mr Lee is on holiday in the UK and will be here until 3 September. (He

flies to Brussels in the late afternoon on 3 September). I explained that this would be Lord Caithness's first day in the Office but undertook to pass on his request. Mr Lee can

be contacted in Worcestershire (tel no 0386-554049) until

the end of this week.
