VISIT OF JOHN MEADWAY, UNDER SECRETARY UT 2, TO HONG KONG

Mr Meadway, as part of a wider visit to the Far East will be undertaking a short familiarisation visit to Hong Kong between 18 November 21 November 1990. A programme for the visit has not yet been firmed up but will no doubt include calls on members of the Hong Kong Government, and the business community in Hong Kong.

2 I should be grateful if recipients of this minute could indicate whether the briefing (particularly the issues and points to raise) provided for the Minister for Trade's visit or Sir James Cleminson's visit to Hong Kong is still current. there have been changes/or there are additions grateful if you could let me know what these are in summary form. To ensure that the briefing we provide is as concise as possible our intention is to produce one paper covering the key issues and points to make.
