Could you please let me know if this meets with Mr Maude's approval. We have not yet been in touch with the Chinese Ambassador here but clearly need to do so soonest.
Lord Young was wondering also whether he could stay with our Ambassador in Beijing and also whether or not the Governor would be inviting him to stay with him in Hong Kong. If not, he is more than happy to stay in a hotel.
