CALL ON LORD PRESIDENT BY CHINESE VICE-PREMIER WU XUEQIAN, 19 MARCH

1.

The Lord President has agreed to see the Chinese Vice-Premier

Wu Xueqian at 11.30 on 19 March (Your letter of 15 March). We have

also had confirmation of the call from the Chinese Embassy.

2. I submit a brief on Hong Kong issues, including a defensive line

on Sino-British relations and material on Cambodia (produced by

SEAD), and a draft Private Secretary letter.

3. The Lord President's Office have asked if an FCO official could

sit in on the call. I will be available to do so.
