COMMUNICATIONS IN KUCHING/EC-ASEAN FOREIGN MINISTERS MEETING

I.

We do not have secure communications in Kuching. From when the Minister arrives here on Thursday 15 February until his departure on Saturday 17 February, any classified material should be sent to Singapore. The Minister and his party transit Singapore on the evening of 17 February en route

route to Vietnam and can be given any correspondence then.

Any unclassified material can be sent to us by fax. There is

a facsimile machine installed in the hotel for use by the delegations. The number is 082 428984.

In addition we have made arrangements to

have access to the facsimile machine at the British Council and at the Standard Chartered Bank (the office of our Honorary Representative). These fax numbers are 082 425199 and 082 414299 respectively.

The telephone number for the Hilton Hotel is 082 248200. Mr Colvin can be reached on extension 704, Ms O'Connell on 705, and Ms Pitts on 707. We have set up an office in 708.
