VISIT TO LONDON BY GOVERNOR

Mr Christian Adams (Under-Secretary in charge of PEP, DTI) telephoned this evening to say that his Secretary of State would very much welcome it if the Governor would call on him the next time he was in London. The main purpose would be to talk about the port and airport development scheme, and British firms' interest in winning contracts in that connection.

2.

I said that the Governor had been thinking of coming here from 8-10 March. He had just sent a telegram, however, asking us to explore a visit in the following week. If he did come then, we could try to fit a call on Mr Ridley into the programme. Mr Adams thought that Mr Ridley might be away in mid-March, but said it would certainly be worth checking.

3. When the Governor's dates are clear, I should be grateful if you would check with him whether he would be prepared to pay a call on Mr Ridley. If the answer is positive, you could then see whether a meeting is possible.
