HONG KONG BACKGROUND BRIEF

AID

Because of its high per capita GNP, Hong Kong does not receive aid from HMG. But we have contributed or pledged some £38 million over the last two years to help deal with the problem of Vietnamese boat people.

Most of this money has been channelled through the UNHCR.
