41. CONDITIONS IN VIETNAM
The report written by Lord Ennals and Mr Timothy Raison MP after a visit to Vietnam to monitor the conditions of those who had been repatriated revealed that they have been subjected to no ill-treatment or persecution.
There is evidence that the Vietnamese Government have embarked on a concerted programme on economic reform, which has already won the commendation of the IMF.
42. ENNALS/RAISON REPORT
The Report is encouraging in what it has to say about conditions of those returned to Vietnam. It has confirmed there was no evidence of force being used in repatriation or of ill treatment on their return. We are studying the recommendations carefully with a view to quick implementation.
