35. REPATRIATION OF NON-REFUGEES

At Geneva Conference in June, international community accepted principle that all those screened out as non-refugees should in due course be returned to Vietnam. Ultimately that is the only possible
solution.
1171 volunteers have returned so far. A further 1,600 (almost all unscreened) have also volunteered to return and arrangements are being made for this. Seeking to counsel and persuade boat people to return to Vietnam, with full support of UNHCR.
