Thank you very much for showing me round the British Council in Hong Kong last Tuesday. I had heard that the Council was doing great things in Hong Kong and this was certainly borne out by what you showed me. I was impressed by not only what you are doing now, but also what you plan to do in the future. Mastery of the English language is going to be ever more vital to Hong Kong's future success. So the British Council is very much at the heart of things and I am sure will remain so

long after 1997.
