SECRETARY OF STATE'S VISIT TO HONG KONG, 13-16 JANUARY 1990

I submit a set of briefs for Mrs Hurd. These include the Secretary of State's Steering Brief and a standard Background Brief.

1.

I shall also provide a copy of the mood telegram for Mrs Hurd on

12 January.

2. The programme takes account of Mrs Hurd's wish to spend the Monday afternoon with Mrs Studholme-Wilson. This involves cancelling the ride on the Mass Transit Railway and visit to the market. But we have asked Hong Kong to rearrange the visit to a primary school, originally planned for 1510 on 15 January. A suitable slot might be at about 1015 on 16 January and we have provisionally included this in the revised programme.
