Dear Barrie

Please find attached a Draft Report on your visit to Australia.

I hope this covers the areas needed. I have tried to be as frank as possible in my assessments and for obvious reasons would ask that circulation be limited within Government in Hong Kong.

If there are any gaps or additional documents you need please let me know.

I enjoyed working with you and hope you found the visit worthwhile. Certainly, as I have said in the attached report, I believe you have had an impact, particularly in the business sector, and that provided there is early follow-up and that a continuing programme is put in place, that a more positive Australian perception of Hong Kong will show up. This can only be enhanced, of course, by putting some additional emphasis on media relations here.

My thanks for your help and flexibility during the visit. We could not have successfully completed such a tight programme without it.

Kind regards

Barry Pearton
