GOVERNOR'S INTERVIEW WITH ASAHI NEWSPAPER

With apologies for not sending this to you sooner I enclose now a copy of the Asahi interview with the Governor, published on 30 November, together with a courtesy translation.

The newspaper's account is, in usual Japanese style, bland but factual. Nonetheless the basic message of continuity post-1997 has been fairly reflected and will no doubt help contribute to a positive view here of the territories future.
