W23),

Mr Allen Lee on Tuesday 23 January at 10.00 am. They will want to discuss Hong Kong's future constitutional

development, in particular our plans for the LegCo elections in 1991.

The meeting of the Political Structure Special Group of the Basic Law Drafting Committee in Canton also ended on 20 January. The main conclusions to emerge from this meeting

were:

The meeting adopted a "mainstream" political model consisting of 18 directly elected seats in 1997, the balance being composed of 30 indirectly elected seats and 12 Grand Electoral College seats. Under this model, the number of directly elected seats would increase to 24 (40%) in 1999 and 30 (50%) in 2003.
