should be grateful if Legal Advisers would confirm that they have no objection to these provisions. I assume that we would expect the Home Office to meet any costs arising from HMG's obligations under paragraph 8 (a).
Invitations to UN agencies

I should also be grateful for UND's advice on the level at which invitations to the Directors-General of the UN agencies should be issued. Invitations to government ministers will be signed by the Home Secretary. Should the invitations to the UN agencies issue at a similar level, or would it be acceptable for them to be signed by a Home Office official?
Exhibitions
11. Information Department may wish to be aware that the Home Office are proposing to mount an exhibition of posters, visual aids etc in the Conference Centre. They intend to set up an inter-departmental sub-group to handle this aspect of the conference, and I should be grateful if Information Department would let me know if they wish to take part in this.
Media aspects
12. The Home Office also intend to set up a meeting of press offices to discuss the media arrangements for the conference and they will be in touch separately with News Department.

Arrangements for the conference are now moving ahead quickly. We intend to submit a sitrep to Ministers on 23 October and I should therefore be grateful for replies to the above points by close of play on 20 October. I should also be grateful if departments would indicate if any of the points in this minute should be specifically drawn to the attention of Ministers.
